CHICAGO (AP) - A Catholic priest accused of child sexual abuse says he feels betrayed by church leaders who announced a nearly $1.4 million settlement in a case involving allegations against him.

The 58-year-old Rev. Chester Przybylo (shih-BIL'-oh) was never criminally charged and says he maintains his innocence. He told The Associated Press on Friday he feels outraged and shocked by news of the settlement.

He is now a pastor at an independent church in the Chicago suburb of Winfield. He has filed a slander suit against his accuser, the accuser's attorneys and two organizations involved in priest abuse cases.

Attorney Jeff Anderson says Przybylo allegedly abused a young teenage boy repeatedly at Five Holy Martyrs parish from 1987 through 1992.
