GIRLS, GIRLS, GIRLS: Three great-granddaughters of James H. Howe, founder of St. Louis' Lewis-Howe Co., which made Tums, were honored recently with local and international debuts. Cornelia Dooley Frank represented Missouri at the International Debutante Ball at the Waldorf Astoria in NYC. Elizabeth Bunn Hailand and Catherine Filley Howe made their debuts at the Veiled Prophet Ball. Hailand was the VP queen; Howe was a VP special maid. Hailand is the daughter of Arthur G. Hailand III and Rebecca Hailand. Arthur Hailand is with the American Red Cross. Hailand is a student at the University of Richmond. Howe is a daughter of Nelson H. Howe II and Catherine Howe. Nelson Howe is an attorney with Lashley Baer. Frank's parents are Terrence Dooley Frank and Mary O'Brien Frank. She graduated from Villa Duchesne School and is now at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth. Her father is a managing director of the Stifel Financial Corp.; her mother is a designer for the St. Louis Closet Co. Arianna Alisse Deane of St. Louis and Naples, Fla., also made her debut at the International Debutante Ball. Her father is Andrew Michael Deane Jr. She attends high school in Naples.

SIGHT 'EMS: Classic rock hunks AC/DC were spotted having a relaxed lunch Monday afternoon at Cielo in the Four Seasons. The group was here to play the Scottrade Center on Tuesday night. And New Year's Eve revelers in the atrium at HoteLumière were treated to a surprise concert guest. After watching from the audience for the first half of Nikko Smith's show, Ernie Isley from the legendary Isley Brothers joined the American Idol finalist on stage and jammed to the Isley Brothers classic "Summer Breeze."

YOU-TUBE TOPPER: Local videographer Kim Fischer, 42, was a finalist in the first-ever Project: Report, a contest for aspiring, nonprofessional journalists sponsored by YouTube and the Pulitzer Center for Crisis Reporting. And while she didn't win the $10,000 fellowship award, she was recognized in an awards ceremony in Washington on Sunday night as one of the five finalists. She was awarded a laptop computer and a videocamera for her efforts. Fischer's video tells the personal stories of four people — including her husband — whose lives were touched by priest abuse. Fischer had the cooperation of the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests for her video. Fischer lives in Crystal City.

HELLO, DOLLY: Isabella Kay-Lehn Poe hit the world on Saturday, weighing in at 7 pounds, 11.5 ounces. Isabella was born at St. John's Mercy Medical Center. She joins her big sister Reagan Rosemary Poe, a first-grader in the Windsor School District. Parents are Kevin Poe, in commercial sales for UnitedAnco, and Johna Lehn Poe, a kindergarten teacher for the Windsor district.

THE SKIPPER COOKS: But longtime Tony La Russa watchers may wonder if the Skipper smiles. The Cardinals manager will put on a live culinary demonstration as a guest chef at the seventh annual St. Louis Food & Wine Experience. La Russa is cooking to show off his new line of At the Plate Dressings and Marinades. La Russa is a well-known vegetarian and his food line is completely organic, with no trans fats, artificial colors or flavors. The Skipper will cook his "Number One Draft Pick Chili," which features products from the line. Watch for a smile! Proceeds from At The Plate benefit La Russa's Animal Rescue Foundation and the Dietrich Family Charitable Fund. The Food & Wine Experience begins at 1:30 p.m. Jan. 24 at the Chase Park Plaza.
