Thomas P O’Brien — out of control

So Thomas P. O’Brien is at it again. This time he is going after Cardinal Roger Mahoney the law as his own personal publicity machine. And you thought it was about Justice? *LMAO* Dream on.

O’Brien is the blowhard publicity hound who brought us such infamous trials as:

* O’Brien v Nazario — Nazario was a Marine who O’Brien decided needed to be held accountable for Murder, even though the Marines who understood the case, did not.

* O’Brien v Lori Drew — Drew was accused of hacking into computers. How did she do this? She opened a MySpace account and did not use her real name.

* O’Brien v Mongols — The Mongols a notorious biker gang so incensed the publicity seeking O’Brien that he went to court to get the rights to their name and logo. The idea, allegedly was that by taking their “uniform” they would fall apart. The logo and the Group’s name were not accused of any wrong doing, just the owners of the jackets which they adorned. For some reason O’Brien has not done this to the Hell’s Angels. Hmmm.

All failures, all wasted taxpayers money, and none were anything more than headline fodder for O’Brien.

“Everything we do is in the pursuit of justice,” said Thom Mrozek, a spokesman for O’Brien. “We have used innovative legal theories in an effort to vindicate the victims of criminal activity. While this may have generated criticism in some circles, we stand by our decisions.”

Bullcrap. We have real criminals queuing up for trial, and O’Brien and his flunkies are going after people who can get them headlines.

That [anonymous] former prosecutor didn’t think the move [to disband the public corruption unit] was “politically motivated,” instead attributing the move to a desire to improve the office’s statistics. U.S. attorneys frequently experience pressure to increase the number of prosecutions as evidence of performance

Now we get him going after Mahoney. There is no reason except for garnering headlines for O’Brien. Even the LAT is aghast at this, and they hate the Catholic Church.

But U.S. Atty. Thomas P. O’Brien has previously demonstrated a worrisome creativity.

Here too we worry about the elasticity of the law. If Mahoney conspired to protect abusive priests, charge him with conspiracy. If he blocked inquiries, charge him with obstruction. But his crimes, if any, are easily defined under tested laws, not as vague denials of service.

18 months is enough of this idiot. Fire him, now. Oh wait, we can’t do that anymore. Firing incompetents is discrimination as far as the liberals in power are concerned. No doubt due to their own incompetence. These same incompetents are the ones who gave us this idiotic laws in the first place.
