HARRISBURG, Pa. — A central Pennsylvania pastor is accused of offering to pay one of his parishioners for sex.

Court records show police have charged 62-year-old Alan C. Wenrich, of Hummelstown, with misdemeanor counts of patronizing prostitution and soliciting.

Wenrich is senior pastor at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Dauphin County First Assistant District Attorney Francis Chardo says the woman approached county detectives earlier this month. She told them Wenrich had offered her money for sex.

Two weeks ago, investigators say they had the woman contact Wenrich again; this time, they had her wear a hidden microphone.

Chardo says Wenrich gave the woman an undisclosed amount of money to have sex at a motel.

A telephone listing for Wenrich could not be located by The Associated Press. The telephone at the church rang unanswered Saturday morning.
