High School Tutor Arrested

(Irondequoit, N.Y.) -- Irondequoit Police said they have arrested a BOCES tutor for allegedly having inappropriate sexual contact with at least one of the students she was tutoring.

Lisa Marshall appeared in front of Judge Vincent DiNolfo in Irondequoit Town Court late Wednesday afternoon without an attorney. A “Not Guilty” plea was entered on her behalf.

Three Orders of Protection were issued for the minors involved.

The Sexual Abuse charge is a Class B misdemeanor which carries a maximum sentence of 90 days. Endangering the Welfare of a Child is a Class A misdemeanor which holds a maximum sentence of one year in jail.

Bail was set at $1,500.

At the time of the alleged incidents, Marshall had been employed by Monroe 1 BOCES and assigned to work with students at Bishop Kearney High School.

What Happened

According to police, on February 7, while in her home, Marshall asked a 15-year-old male student to have sex with her. Marshall was not tutoring the victim at the time of the incident, but had tutored him previously.

Marshall had picked up the teen that day at his home and brought him to her residence for the reported purpose of helping her create a MySpace page.

Police also allege that previous to the above incident, Marshall intentionally fondled the same teen at her residence. Marshall had earlier picked up the teen and a 15-year-old female and took them to lunch prior to bringing them to her home to "hang out."

Police also said that sometime between February 23 and March 6, while tutoring students at the high school, Marshall intentionally showed two 15-year-old female students a text message of a sexual nature on her cell phone.

Marshall Fired, Reported to State Ed' Dept.

School officials said they learned of the alleged incidents last Thursday. They contacted parents and BOCES officials. Marshall was immediately removed from the school.

BOCES spokesman John Walker said Marshall had worked for BOCES for two years and was fired Tuesday after an investigation into the charges. They have also reported the matter to the State Education Department.

Although police do not believe that there are additional victims, anyone with information should contact the Irondequoit Police Department at (585) 336-6000.
