A former Sunshine Coast pastor has gone on trial in a Maroochydore District Court charged with the alleged sexual abuse of a teenage boy.

The court heard the abuse started about four months after the pastor joined the church in 2004.

The pastor's alleged victim was 13-years-old at the time and a member of the church.

Earlier this afternoon, the court watched video evidence from the boy, who said the abuse began in the pastor's office while a church camp was underway.

The boy said the abuse escalated during the following year and a half and even occurred at the pastor's home when his wife was at work.

The name of the church can not be revealed for legal reasons.

The trial continues this afternoon. See more in tomorrow's Sunshine Coast Daily and look for updates at thedaily.com.au.
