FONDA — Catholic priest John W. Broderick, who was accused of sexual misconduct involving three boys from the same family, was exonerated of all charges today in Montgomery County Court.

County Court Judge Felix Catena threw out the Feb. 18 misdemeanor conviction of Broderick on an endangering the welfare of a child charge.

"The court made a courageous decision, followed the law and did the right thing," said Bruce Barket, attorney for Broderick.

"Judges have kept priests out of jail for decades. Judge Felix Catena made a grave error," said John Aretakis, an attorney who has handled many sexual abuse cases involving priests.

After court was adjourned, the mother of the alleged victims accosted Broderick, saying, "He lied. He lied."
