The Catholic Diocese of Wilmington will write a million and a half dollar check to settle a lawsuit with a man who claims he was sexually abused by a priest.

63 year old Doug McClure of Wilmington says the Reverend Edward Carley raped and abused him while he was an altar boy between 1954 and 1956.

His attorney Tom Neuberger says the Diocese will pay McClure a million and a half dollars and will issue both public and private apologies to him.Audio Here

The Diocese calls Carley's actions "... a reprehensible betrayal of trust."

Carley was a long time priest who was financially well off and was accused of luring boys into his bedroom and onto his boat with sports equipment and other gifts.
