FONDA, N.Y. (AP) - Child endangerment charges against an upstate Roman Catholic priest have been dismissed.

Rev. John Broderick was acquitted of sexually abusing three boys after a trial in Montgomery County Court in February. The 48-year-old was found guilty of misdemeanor child endangerment stemming from contact he had with the boys between 2006 and 2007 in the town of Palatine.

Broderick was scheduled to be sentenced on that charge Wednesday morning. But Judge Felix Catena decided to vacate the conviction because the jury should not have been asked to consider the lesser charge. Broderick had faced up to one year in jail and could have been sentenced to probation.
