Two new suits alleging sexual abuse by former Delaware priests were filed Thursday in Delaware Superior Court.

In the first, plaintiff Kevin Cuff alleges the late Rev. John M. McDevitt and the Rev. Dennis W. Killion abused him while he was a student at Salesianum School in Wilmington. The alleged abuse by Killion began in 1983 when Cuff was a freshman in the priest's religion class and continued his sophomore year; McDevitt began abusing him when he was a junior, according to the suit.

In the second case, defendant John BS Doe alleges Killion abused him between 1983 and 1986 when he was a student at Salesianum. The abuse allegedly occurred on the school campus and in Chester County Hospital, where the boy was recovering from surgery.

Oblates of St. Francis de Sales, Salesianum School and the Catholic Diocese of Wilmington also are named as defendants in both suits.

Ten men now have made such claims against Killion, who worked at Salesianum from 1980-86. After Salesianum, he worked in schools in Pennsylvania, Virginia and Florida, as recently as 2008. He had just been assigned to a parish in Holland, Pa., when the first suit was filed in August 2008 and that assignment was rescinded. He now lives at the Oblates' retirement facility in Cecil County, Md.
