Jackson County prosecutors on Friday accused a 54-year-old pastor in the beating of a woman that left her with a deep head wound and severed artery.

Prosecutors charged Alfred F. White of Kansas City with first-degree domestic assault.

The 34-year-old victim banged on a stranger’s door in the 3200 block of East 20th Street about 4:45 a.m. Thursday and begged for help. She said she had knocked on another door but no one was home. She was bleeding heavily and collapsed into a fetal position on the porch.

When police arrived, the victim said she had been beaten all day and kicked out of a silver truck by her “baby daddy,” whom she identified as the pastor of the Community Baptist Church in Kansas City, Kan., police said.

The woman then suffered a seizure. An ambulance took her to a hospital with critical injuries. Her condition later improved and was not considered life-threatening, police said.

According to court records, White allegedly picked up the victim in his truck and an argument erupted over whether he was the father of her child. The victim alleged that White struck her 50 times as they drove around. They stopped near 34th Street and Benton Boulevard, where she was beaten until she became disoriented. She then remembered knocking on someone’s door for help.

Police followed a blood trail from the stranger’s house to an alley, where they found a woman’s jacket and shoe.

Police arrested White, who drives a silver truck, according to a police report.
