THE STORY of a Wexford man's stance against the clerical abuse he suffered as a boy, and the ongoing cover-up by the Catholic Church, is to be recalled in a new book which will be released next week.

North Wexford resident and former Senator Colm O'Gorman's new book 'Beyond Belief ' will be launched by Eleanor McEvoy in The Book Centre, on South Main Street, Wexford, on Thursday, May 14 next, at 7 p.m.

'Beyond Belief ' is the story of how he took on the Church after he suffered sexual abuse as a boy. According to publishers Hodder and Stoughton, 'Beyond Belief ' is a powerful story of a young man's shame turning to outrage, and demonstrates that – whatever our past hurts – there is hope for the future. Colm O'Gorman has made two highly acclaimed programmes for BBC's Panorama – which were sold around the world.

He went on to set up the charity One in Four to support women and men who have experienced sexual violence. Prior to that, he worked as a therapist in private practice in London. In the last general election, he ran as a candidate for the PDs in Wexford, having been appointed to the Senate. He is now Executive Director of Amnesty International Ireland.
