A former Morris priest has been sentenced for possessing child pornography.
54-year-old John Caskey will serve one month in prison and be placed on 5 years probation, along with complying with several other conditions, according to a Stevens County court ruling.
Caskey is the former priest of Assumption Church who was arrested back in August 2008 and charged with 20 counts of possessing child pornography.
Caskey's attorney argued that incarceration would not help his client's rehabilitation.
Caskey is waiting to hear if he will be granted work release permission, making his sentence “time served”.
Some conditions include having no unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 18, limited internet use and unscheduled visits by a court officer.
