Former priest Patrick O'Donnell took the stand Wednesday.

SEATTLE - Disgraced former priest Patrick O'Donnell sat on the stand today and in a soft, monotone voice admitted to molesting several children during his days in Spokane and Seattle. That's how testimony began in the second day of a trial about how the Archdiocese of Seattle handled O'Donnell.

O'Donnell admits he molested at least 30 children during his time in parishes in Spokane and in Seattle. The real question is whether the Seattle archdiocese knew about the sins of the father.

O'Donnell was sent from the Spokane diocese for sexual deviancy treatment. He also pursued a graduate degree at the University of Washington in what he admitted today was a cover story because he was trying to keep a secret.

The archdiocese attorneys argue that there was never a complaint at the time and it was unaware of any prior problems.

Former Archbishop Hunthausen is scheduled to take the stand tomorrow.
