A pastor accused of attempted statutory rape pleaded innocent and was arraigned Thursday morning in Clay County Circuit Court.

Robert M. Black, 40, the pastor at New Home Baptist Church south of St. Joseph, faces charges of attempted enticement of a child and attempted first-degree statutory rape for allegedly using a computer to contact a 13-year-old girl to exchange sexually explicit photographs.

The girl was really an undercover law enforcement officer.

Mr. Black will next appear in court June 18 in Liberty, Mo.
