A: There is no statute of limitations on child molestation, according to the Texas Penal code. The Texas Penal code states that there is no limitation on "murder and manslaughter; sexual assault under Section 22.011(a)(2), Penal Code, or aggravated sexual assault under Section 22.021(a)(1)(B), Penal Code; sexual assault, if during the investigation of the offense biological matter is collected and subjected to forensic DNA testing and the testing results show that the matter does not match the victim or any other person whose identity is readily ascertained; continuous sexual abuse of young child or children under Section 21.02, Penal Code and indecency with a child under Section 21.11, Penal Code." Failure to report child abuse is a crime in the state of Texas. The Web site of Texas Department of Family and Protective Services explains responsibilities when it comes to reporting child sex abuse or neglect. "If you suspect a child has been abused or mistreated, you are required to report it to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services or to a law enforcement agency. You are required to make this report within 48 hours of the time you suspected the child has been or may be abused or neglected," the Web site stated. Stumped? Ask us.
