A 58-year-old Westminster man long associated with Boy Scouts of America and church youth groups in the metro region has been accused of sex assault on two boys a decade ago.

Gordon McLees was arrested Tuesday and charged with sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust and sexual assault on a child with a pattern of abuse, police said Wednesday.

Police told 9News that McLees' accusers are brothers who told police only recently that they were touched inappropriately by McLees several times when he was a volunteer religion teacher at Tri-City Baptist Church in Westminster 10 years ago.

He no longer attends the church, police said.

None of the alleged incidents happened at the church, however, police told 9News.

Police are asking anyone who has additional information to call 303-658-4248.

McLees remained in the Jefferson County Detention Facility on Wednesday.
