A musician from Ann Arbor has been charged with traveling to Ohio to have sex with two girls ages 12 and 13, a spokesman at the Cincinnati office of the FBI said Saturday.

David Jeremy Zobel, 32, who according to a University of Michigan Web site is a pianist for the college's Men's Glee Club, was arrested Friday by FBI agents and Ann Arbor police at his apartment, FBI Special Agent Michael E. Brooks said Saturday.

Zobel is charged with interstate travel to engage in sexual activities with minors. He appeared before a U.S. Magistrate in Michigan on Friday to determine whether a bond would be set and whether he would be extradited to Ohio.

Brooks said Zobel denies the charge. The FBI did not say whether he had an attorney, and Brooks said he did not know the outcome of Friday's hearing.

If found guilty of the charge, Zobel could be sentenced to 30 years in prison.

Brooks said that according to an FBI complaint filed June 2 at the U.S. District Court, Southern District in Dayton, Ohio, Zobel picked up the two girls in Xenia, Ohio, and took them to a Toledo parking garage for sex. The complaint says Xenia police were able to identify Zobel using a MySpace account address that he used to communicate with the girls, along with the records of text messages he had sent to one of the girls, Brooks said.

On Tuesday, FBI agents searched Zobel's home where they found sexually explicit photographs of both girls on a camera, Brooks said.

According to the U-M Web site, Zobel is originally from California and has appeared throughout the nation as a soloist, collaborator, conductor and singer.
