TOLEDO -- A church music director from Ann Arbor, who police say drove two underage girls from Xenia to Toledo where he sexually assaulted them, may face charges in a Toledo court.

David Zobel, 32, was charged Friday, in Dayton, with interstate travel with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct. Two girls, ages 12 and 13, allege that Zobel met them on MySpace then picked them up in their hometown of Xenia before driving them to Toledo. The girls told federal investigators that Zobel drove them to a downtown Toledo parking garage and forced them to perform sex acts in order to gain their release.

A search of Zobel's Michigan home revealed a camera containing sexually explicit images of the girls at Zobel's house.

Zobel is to be tried in Dayton on federal charges.

According to Sgt. Sam Harris of the Toledo Police Department's Special Victims Unit, Zobel may face charges in Toledo. Sgt. Harris expects the case will go before a Lucas County Grand Jury when both girls are able to testify.

The University of Michigan's website lists Zobel as a pianist with the Men's Glee Club. He is also listed as a music director at a Ypsilanti church.
