A prominent Jamaican-born international pastor who was arrested in Westmoreland on Sunday will be interrogated by the police at 10 this morning with a view to being charged for carnal abuse.

According to the police, the 45-year-old pastor, who was taken into custody just as he was about to step on to the pulpit on Sunday, will have his lawyers, Michael Erskine and Terry Ballyntine, present.

The allegations that led to the pastor's arrest stem from a June 1 incident where it is alleged he met a 14-year-old girl at a crusade and took her on a trip to Clarendon.

The 14-year-old brought along a 15-year-old female friend and, while travelling to Clarendon in a chauffeur-driven vehicle, the pastor fondled and kissed both girls several times.

On their return to Westmoreland, he reportedly took the girls to the hotel at which he was staying in Negril, claiming it was late. About 2 a.m. on Sunday, he allegedly sexually assaulted the 15-year-old twice while the younger girl watched.

Persons who became suspicious of the pastor's activities informed the police and the girls, after being questioned, supposedly admitted what had occurred.

The accused pastor, whose head office is in New York, has grown to be one of the most loved and recognised evangelists of the gospel.
