A Rochester man is sentenced to prison for molesting three boys. Jose Diaz was sentenced today.

Prosecutors agreed to a plea deal to spare the children from testifying. Diaz admitted committing various sexual acts on three boys, who ranged in age from six to 13, from 1999 to 2006.

"He's given all of these boys a life sentence children don't get over being sexual abused, they learn to cope with it," said Assistant District Attorney Kristina Karle. She called Diaz a horrible human being and says there are a total of five victims, but could be more.

Several parents of the victims spoke in court. One father said Diaz broke his son's heart. A mother came forward and begged the judge to give Diaz the maximum sentence. She broke down and had to leave the courtroom.

Diaz was a volunteer at the Brighton Fire Department and a member of a well known church. Karle says Diaz befriended the families to get to the children. Diaz was best friends with one child's father. Diaz abused that boy from the time he was six until he was 15 years old. Diaz apologized in court.

Assistant Public Defender Thomas Winward asked Judge Joesph Valentino for mercy. Diaz claims he was molested as a child.

Judge Valentino sentenced Diaz to 25 years in prison.
