A support group for people who have been abused by priests says if Youngstown's bishop won't hold a public meeting, they will hold their own.

The Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests ,(SNAP), will hold a public meeting on Thursday at the Boardman branch of the Youngstown library.

They said Youngstown bishop George Murry has ignored their requests that he host such a meeting.

The bishop issued a public statement last week, but declined to host a public forum.

The meeting will run from 7 to 9 p.m., and will feature a discussion about clergy sex crimes and cover-ups.

The meeting is in light of the recent admission of sexual abuse by Father Thomas Crum while he was at Cardinal Mooney High School more than 30 years ago.

Judy Jones, southeastern Ohio director of SNAP, said they fear that not enough action is being taken in the case.

"We fear there are many victims of this priest," Jones said, adding that she is concerned that the Youngstown diocese has not disclosed all that they know about the situation.
