A Minnesota woman has sued the Catholic Diocese of Crookston, in Northern Minnesota, claiming that a priest sexually abused her when she was 15.

A judge in Roseau County unsealed the criminal complaint against Joseph P. Jeyapaul at the request of prosecutors. The abuse took place in 2004, at the young woman's parish in the tiny town of Greenbush, according to the complaint. The woman is seeking damages in excess of $50,000.

The Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests issued a press release notifying the media of the unsealed records. Jeyapaul, the accused priest, worked in Thief River Falls and Greenbush. He is now in India, and still a priest.

The network is encouraging anyone who may have information on Jeyapaul to contact Jeff Anderson, the St. Paul attorney prosecuting the case, at 651.227.9990.
