	Priest Faces Court on Child Sex Charges Brisbane Times July 28, 2009 http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/queensland/priest-faces-court-on-child-sex-charges-20090728-dz8p.html A Catholic priest has appeared in court charged with sexually abusing a 12-year-old girl around 30 years ago in southeast Queensland. Police last month charged the 64-year-old Brisbane man with two counts of indecent treatment of a child. The abuse allegedly took place from 1977 to 1981 when the man, then aged in his 30s, was working as a Catholic priest in the Ipswich area west of Brisbane. The girl was 12 years old when the alleged abuse started. The priest has since resigned from his parish and is on leave from any pastoral responsibilities following the allegations. The case was adjourned today for committal mention in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on September 23.
