LAS VEGAS—A self-proclaimed prophet and church leader arrested in Las Vegas in July on suspicion of sex crimes against children has died.

Mace Yampolsky, an attorney for Benito Catello, says the 76-year-old died on Monday at his home while under hospice care.

Catello was arrested July 3 on suspicion of 29 charges, including sexual assault and lewdness with a minor under 14. Two teenage girls had told police they had sex with him in his home.

Catello had been in custody at an area hospital in July with guards by his bed.

Catello ran a church called "The Ministry" out of his home.
