AUSTRALIA — A former South Australian Catholic priest extradited from Indonesia has pleaded guilty to three charges of indecently assaulting a child.

But defence counsel for 68-year-old Charles Alfred Barnett has told the Adelaide Magistrates Court the ex-priest will plead not guilty to the remaining six offences which include having unlawful sexual intercourse.

The child sex offences are alleged to have occurred at Crystal Brook and Port Pirie in South Australia's mid-north between 1977 and 1985.

The magistrate's remanded Barnett in custody.
