DES PLAINES, Ill. (WBBM) — A Des Plaines woman is fighting to keep the home she says she shared for years with a Roman Catholic priest, claiming the two had a secret love affair.

Irene Serwa in her lawsuit contends she and Father Edwin Bohula lived as husband and wife until his death two years ago.

Her revelation of their unknown affair surfaced as part of her suit to win back full property rights to the home the two shared in Des Plaines for 13 years.

According to the Daily Herald, without Serwa's knowledge Father Bohula changed his will to state that she be allowed to live out her years in the home they shared in Des Plaines, but that his interest in the property be given to the Dominican Sisters of Chicago, blocking the Serwa, 60, from doing what she wants with the home, like selling it.

She hopes to change his estate through her lawsuit. Bohula served at a parish in unincorporated Lemont.
