CANADA — The youngest of Rev. Charles Sylvestre's victims will provide details of her abuse at a Friday morning press conference in London.

Cecilia McLauchlin, 32, of Blenheim, wants her triumph to be a beacon of hope for the many victims of Sylvestre still waiting for an end to their lawsuits.

The amount of the settlement was not disclosed.

But McLauchlin, in her claim, disclosed details of her sexual abuse which began at the age of four when she attended Immaculate Conception Church in Pain Court.

Settlement of the lawsuit comes at the end of close to three years of litigation and only days before her trial was to begin this week.

Mark Adkinson, a spokesman for the diocese, said a "fair and reasonable" settlement was reached last Friday.

"We apologize for any misconduct on the part of Sylvestre," he said. "And we hope this settlement helps the healing process for Mrs, McLauchlin."
