KOTTAYAM: The Vigilante Council of the Kottayam Knanaya Catholic Archdiocese has come out strongly against the telecast of Narco CDs related to those accused in the Sister Abhaya case and underscored that the visual media has committed gross human rights violations through it.

It also demanded action against those media houses which had telecast the CD, considering the fact that all limits have been crossed through their action.

A statement issued by the 'Jagratha Council' noted that the telecast intensifies the seriousness of the issue, for the fact it has occurred when the matter is under the consideration and observation of the High Court.

The HC had raised suspicions that a few portions of the CD were edited versions and entrusted the CDAC to go into the specifics.

The latter had attested to the views of suspected foulplay and the report submitted before the High Court in this regard have not been deliberated or disposed off by the latter, the statement added.

The council also alleged a suspected conspiracy through the telecast, pointing out to its timing.

The arrest of the suspected accused in the Sr Abhaya case was masterminded at a time when a sensational case was making headlines, the statement pointed out, without naming the Lavalin case involving CPM secretary Pinarayi Vijayan.

Now also, the telecast of Narco CD has come at a time when another case has become controversial with the names of many being linked to it.

As such, the current timing and the motive is also suspectful, it was alleged, referring to continued attempts from the CPM top brass to deflect attention in the sensational Paul Muthoot murder case.
