The Archdiocese of St.John's is taking steps to see that church workers who deal with children and others, have a clean background. Archbishop Martin Currie says they hope to have something in place shortly. Currie says the new protocol will affect anyone who works for the church. They will have to have a police check and letters of recommendation. Currie, meantime, has confirmed the Archdiocese was aware of accusations back in the '80's that a former resident of Mount Cashel, Shane Earle, saw pornography at the home of Raymond Lahey. Currie says he has been told that the incident was reported to the Archbishop at the time.
