WHEELING, W.Va. -- A support group for victims of clergy abuse wants Wheeling Jesuit University to suspend one of the school's board members.

The Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, or SNAP, also wants past claims of sexual harassment by Father Thomas Gleeson investigated. It planned a protest Wednesday in Wheeling.

Regional Director Judy Jones says a lawsuit against Gleeson and other priests was settled in the 1990s with no admission of wrongdoing.

Still, SNAP believes a 2002 church policy promising openness about sex-abuse cases requires action.

Davitt McAteer, Wheeling Jesuit's interim president, says Gleeson has been on the board since 2004, and the university is happy to have him.

He says the school has no plans to suspend or investigate Gleeson.
