DETAILS

From 1976-1980, Brother Charles Anthony "Raimond" Rose worked as a teacher at Shanley High School in the Diocese of Fargo. In roughly 1977, Rose sexually assaulted a then 14 year old Shanley student.

Rose belongs to the Chicago-based Brothers of the Christian Schools Midwest Province 630 323 3725), which operated Shanley. A Chicago newspaper article from last year report that Rose lives in a Christian Brothers residence near the De La Salle Institute, a high school for boys.

SNAP wants Cardinal Francis George to insist that Rose’s employer put him in a remote, secure treatment center so kids are safer and so Rose will get therapy.

This summer, five men filed similar suits charging that Rose abused them, sometimes on trips to Chicago and elsewhere, while they were students at two Minnesota schools: De La Salle High School in Minneapolis and Cretin-Derham Hall in St. Paul. Rose also worked at church facilities in Stevens Point, Wisconsin and Concord, California.

In 2003, Rose was also sued for molesting a California child. In 2004, that civil case settled for $ 1.1 million.

Yesterday, a 47 year old Minnesota man filed a civil lawsuit against Rose, the Fargo Diocese, Shanley High School and the Christian Brothers of the Midwest Province (which runs Shanley and employs Rose). The lawsuit charges that the three Catholic institutions committed negligence and fraud because they represented to students and families that Rose was safe when they knew he had sexually abused at least one boy earlier. (As early as 1966, almost eleven years before he came to Shanley, Rose's supervisors had at least one report of his alleged child sex crimes.)

That suit was filed in Cass County, North Dakota, East Judicial District Court. The victim is represented by Minnesota attorney Patrick W. Noaker (651) 227 9990, (612) 961 1307 cell

Rose has worked for the Christian Brothers for at least five decades, receiving a 50 year service award in 2007. http://bishop-accountability.org/priestdb/PriestDBbylastName-R.html
