NEW HAVEN, Conn.—A man charged with molesting boys in Haiti is heading to Connecticut for a bail hearing before a federal judge.

A hearing is scheduled for Wednesday in U.S. District Court in New Haven in the case of Douglas Perlitz, who has been held without bail since he was arrested Sept. 16 at his home in Eagle, Colo. He has pleaded not guilty.

Federal authorities say the former Connecticut resident founded the Project Pierre Toussaint school in Cap-Haitien, Haiti, in 1997 and molested nine boys there.

Authorities say Perlitz enticed children into sex acts by promising them food, shelter, cash, cell phones, electronics, and shoes.

Perlitz's lawyer says his client should be released from prison pending a trial.
