OTTAWA — Roman Catholic Bishop Raymond Lahey has a new date for his child-pornography case to continue in Ottawa criminal court.

In a routine hearing Wednesday morning, Lahey's lawyers appeared on his behalf and had a date set for another appearance on Dec. 16.

Several such proceedings and postponements are common as criminal charges move toward trial.

Lahey faces charges of possessing and importing child pornography after customs agents at the Ottawa airport said they found pornographic images of children on a laptop he had with him as he returned from a foreign trip.

The bishop, who resigned as head of the diocese of Antigonish in Nova Scotia just before the charges became public, has been living at a Catholic priests' residence in Ottawa.
