In Mexico, a priest was dismissed for disobedience and simony, and among his "serious misconduct" are having celebrated Mass during the health crisis caused by the swine flu epidemic last May.

The decision was taken by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Tijuana, Rafael Romo Muņoz. The suspended priest was identified as Raymundo Figueroa Perez, who was in charge of the diocese of Playas de Rosarito.

Warnings were issued for disobedience, simony and rupture of communion with members of the Church, for celebrating Mass when he was ordered to avoid building crowds due to the risk of transmission of the H1N1 virus.

The other behaviors that the church considers "serious offenses," Romo said simony, a fault he had been committing for years.
