	Diocese Says It's Following Anti-Abuse Charter By Frank Gerace WDEL November 25, 2009 http://www.wdel.com/story.php?id=60023376303 The Catholic Diocese of Wilmington says it's following a 7-year-old action plan to deal with priests and other church personnel who commit sexual abuse. The Diocese Tuesday released a statement saying an independent audit shows it's in compliance with the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People, adopted in 2002 by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. Among the Charter's requirements are creating a safe environment for children, healing and reconciliation of abuse victims, cooperation with authorities in abuse cases and disciplining offenders. The audit was done by the Gavin Group, a firm made up mainly of ex-FBI agents. The Diocese says it's been found in compliance with the Charter for 7 straight years.
