Ireland -- A second Roman Catholic bishop in Ireland says he's resigning in the wake of a damning investigation into decades of church cover-up of child abuse in the Dublin archdiocese.

Bishop Jim Moriarty made the announcement to priests and other church officials Wednesday in his diocese of Kildare and Leithlin, southwest of Dublin.

Last week Bishop Donal Murray of Limerick resigned, becoming the first high-profile casualty of a government-ordered probe into the church's shielding of 46 abusive priests from the law.

Abuse victims have demanded resignations of five serving bishops named in the report. It found that no church official provided abuse evidence to police until 1995. Moriarty initially denied any wrongdoing. The remaining three insist they won't quit.
