Canada -- An Anglican priest charged with possession and distribution of child pornography will next appear in provincial court in St. John's on Jan. 26.

Rev. Robin Barrett's lawyer appeared in court on his behalf today.

He was released from custody on two $25,000 sureties and a number of conditions on Dec. 11.

Conditions of Barrett's release include that he have no access to the Internet, not be within 25 metres of a school or recreation facilities and he report to the RCMP in Harbour Grace three times a week.

The 52-year-old is currently living with his parents, and cannot leave the province.

He is also not permitted to be in the presence of anyone younger than 18, with the exception of his daughter whose mother must be present.

Barrett was arrested in December after the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary executed a search warrant on his Conception Bay South home.

The Toronto Police Service allegedly caught Barrett online trying to distribute child pornography. It notified the RNC. Barrett was quickly relieved as the rector of a Goulds parish after his arrest.
