  Retired Anglican Minister Facing Sex Charges

A 79-year-old Chatham man and retired Anglican minister is charged with historic sexual offences.

Chatham-Kent police said Meurig Pari Lloyd is charged with two counts of rape, two counts of gross indecency, two counts of intercourse with a girl under 14 and indecent assault on a female.

Police said the alleged incidents occurred more than 40 years ago inside St. Paul's Anglican Church, Holy Trinity Church and a private residence.

The alleged victim was between the ages of eight and 15.

Police said Lloyd served in various Anglican churches in Chatham between 1967-1969. He also ministered in northern Ontario and Manitoba from 1981-1995. He retired in 1995 but at present, continues part-time ministerial duties in the Rodney and West Lorne area.

Police want to ensure that there are no other alleged victims. Anyone with information that may assist with this ongoing investigation is asked to contact Det.
