MISSOURI -- Members of the Abuse Survivors Network, "SNAP", want a better accounting of the situation surrounding Fr. Thomas Seifner.

SNAP officers showed up at the Jefferson City diocese yesterday with a letter for Bishop John Gaydos.

They want to know exactly what's been done to investigate allegations that Seifner had inappropriate electronic contact with a minor five years ago.

"That leaves the parishioners, anyone who has been hurt, with no information," said SNAP National Outreach Director Barbara Dorris. "If they truly want to know the truth, they should have called law enforcement."

Father Seifner was relieved of pastoral duties at churches in Bonnot's Mill and Loose Creek, pending the outcome of a church investigation.

The alleged victim is no longer a minor and a diocese spokesman says church policy is to allow victims who come forward as adults to report priest misdeeds to civilian authorities themselves.
