A prominent Anglican priest who allegedly had sexually explicit pictures and video of young children on his computer is facing more charges.

Rev. Robin Barrett of Conception Bay South was not in provincial court in St. John’s this morning when his case was called. He was represented by his lawyer, Doug Moores.

Barrett, 50, was arrested last month on two charges — possessing and distributing child pornography in relation to material police found in November 2009.

However, in court today, Crown prosecutor Lisa Stead told Judge David Orr that three more charges have been added to the list — another for possessing and distributing child pornography, as well as accessing child pornography.

The latest charges stem from incidents from June 2007 and December 2009.

The case will be called again Feb. 23 to allow lawyers to review disclosure.

Barrett has been suspended from his duties as recor at Parish of New Hope in the Goulds.

His arrest came after the Toronto Police Service allegedly caught him online trying to distribute child pornography.

The Toronto police forwarded the information to members of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary, who executed a search warrant on Barrett's C.B.S. home.

Shortly after his first appearance in court, Barrett was released from custody on $50,000 bail and a number of conditions.

He is living with his parents in Harbour Grace, northwest of St. John's, and has to report to the RCMP three times a week.

He is prohibited under court order from using computers and from seeing his three children unless their mother is present.
