Kenneth Hasselbach, 69, retired to Hollywood after leaving the Diocese of Rockville Center, in New York

A former New York City-area Catholic priest who moved to Hollywood has been sentenced to two years in federal prison for possession of child pornography, according to court records.

Kenneth Hasselbach, 69, pleaded guilty to one count of possession of child pornography. A federal judge in Fort Lauderdale sentenced him on Jan. 28.

He was indicted and arrested in January 2009, after the FBI accused him of receiving the pornography via e-mail.

Authorities recommended the U.S. Federal Bureau of Prisons house Hasselbach in a facility that treats sex offenders, court records show.

Hasselbach had faced sex crime allegations previously in New York but was not charged, according to New York newspaper reports.

He was a priest in the Diocese of Rockville Center in New York. He went into early retirement in 1994 soon after a man accused Hasselbach of molesting him in the 1960s, when he was an altar boy.
