CINCINNATI (OH) -- "He's the one guy, he is the top Catholic in the entire state of Ohio that can do something about it," said Daniel Frandorf of SNAP, Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests.

SNAP is talking about charges of sexual abuse involving local priest Robert Poandl. He was indicted last week after an alleged victim came forward saying Poandl molested him as a 10-year-old in West Virginia. SNAP protested outside the Cincinnati Archdiocese Thursday morning, asking the Archbishop to take action.

"Archbishop Schnurr should set the example and get off on the right foot during his tenure here in Cincinnati by being completely open honest and transparent about allegations of priest abuse against any priest," Frandorf said.

Poandl is a member of the Glenmary Home Missioners in Fairfield. Glenmary officials say they were notified about the allegations in June of 2009 -- at that time they say the allegations were reported to the Cincinnati Archdiocese, the Sheriff's office, and Poandl was removed from three of Glenmarys' Georgia missions, but SNAP says the public should have known earlier.

"Both the religious order the Glenmary and the Archbishop of Cincinnati should have made a public statement announcing the allegation, announcing the suspension," Frandorf said.

"If there were oversights, I'm sure they're unintentional, I would have to defer to the superior of the religious community of which this priest is a member," Archbishop Schnurr said.

"It saddens us that he has decided to say, well that guy's not under my jurisdiction so I have no authority, he certainly can do more," Frandorf said.
