  Pope to Meet on German Abuse Cases

ROME—Pope Benedict XVI will meet Friday with a German archbishop who is expected to update him about cases of alleged sexual abuse by priests that have unsettled the pontiff's native land, according to a Vatican spokesman.

More than 100 cases dating back to the 1970s have come to light in recent months, include at least three in the pope's former diocese, Munich-Freising, according to Roman Catholic Church representatives in Germany. None of the three cases stems from the period when he served as archbishop there, a diocese spokesman said.
