GERMANY -- THE Pope has been drawn into the crisis over the German Catholic Church's paedophile priests scandal.
During the 1980s, a paedophile chaplain abused children in the archdiocese of Munich, where the Pope was then Cardinal Ratzinger.

The man was eventually convicted of child abuse.
Barbara Blaine, of the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, said: "We find it hard to believe that Ratzinger didn't reassign the predator or know about the reassignment."
However, the Pope did not know about the transfer of the priest to his archdiocese.
He is also under fire for writing a 2001 Vatican document instructing bishops to keep abuse cases secret.
