Fr.John O’Brien, who was abused when he was in the seminary in 1979, accepted Pope Benedict the sixteenth’s sentiments that he was ”truly sorry”. He said his decision to stay on as a priest came from a desire to create a new Church, where the most vulnerable are kept safe and welcome. Fr O’Brien said although the healing process is a slow one the pastoral letter is a pointer to the future
