Bob Oliva, 65, of Lynbrook, N.Y., accused of two counts of rape of a child and one count of disseminating pornography to a minor, will be summoned to Boston to answer to the charges, said Jake Wark, spokesman for Suffolk District Attorney Daniel Conley. Oliva’s alleged victim, now 48, was a student at Archbishop Molloy High School in Jamaica, N.Y., and Oliva, a basketball coach for the Catholic Youth Organization, when he invited the boy to accompany him to Boston on July 31 and Aug. 1, 1976, a law enforcement source told the Herald. The former student approached Boston police last year and told them that Oliva had raped him while they were guests of the Sheraton Boston Hotel. The state’s statute of limitations on bringing a rape charge was automatically suspended once Oliva left Massachusetts. Neither Oliva nor his attorney could immediately be reached for comment.
