	Old Wounds Resurface with Each New Priest Scandal By Jana Hollingsworth Duluth News Tribune March 27, 2010 http://www.duluthnewstribune.com/event/account:login/desturl/event/article/id/164117/ Every time a new Catholic Church scandal surfaces in the media, Duluthian Verne Wagner is brought back to his own horrible experience. Wagner, an altar boy at St. Rose Parish in Proctor in the 1960s, was sexually abused by a priest beginning when he was 11 and continuing for a year. Although he sued the Catholic Diocese of Duluth in the 1990s and settled, the pain from that time remains. “There’s so much anger that goes with this, so much negative energy,” he said. “There’s a public shame. But part of getting rid of that is to stand up and take your power back.”
