A group that represents victims of clergy sex abuse is renewing its calls for Milwaukee church officials to release long-held secrets.

The group is the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests. SNAP spokesman Peter Isely said Tuesday abuse victims are still waiting for answers.

Church documents show that Milwaukee church leaders met with Vatican officials in 1998 to discuss the case of a priest accused of molesting some 200 deaf boys in Milwaukee from 1950 to 1974. After that meeting, a church judicial process against the priest was dropped.

One attendee was Milwaukee Auxiliary Bishop Richard Sklba. Isely said Sklba needs to break his silence about what happened there.

Sklba's secretary said Sklba was on a retreat Tuesday and unavailable by phone.
