The Holy See today published guidelines explaining the norms and procedures of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF) in handling cases of child sexual abuse by priests.

The guidelines are published on the Vatican website at:

http://www.vatican.va/resources/index_en.htm

The norms went into effect following the 2001 motu proprio, Sacramentorum sanctitatis tutela, which made the CDF responsible for handling all abuse cases.

Also published on the website are other useful documents, including an in-depth presentation of the pertinent canon law, written by the Vatican's Promoter of Justice, Msgr. Charles Scicluna.
